Many times people are confronted with the need to develop seating for a food court environment. These can be either in a mall, open to the public, or in a business cafeteria. There are several things that need to be considered as you plan a food court.
First and most obvious is whether or not it is exposed to the elements. Often food courts are outside and therefore need to have furniture which is totally weather proof. If the food court is in a mall or in an atrium of a business, you have many more options. You can choose outdoor composite seating which is safe to use anywhere but a bit pricey for what you need. You can choose cluster seating which is probably the most common because you don’t have to chase your chairs all over the food court because they are attached to the unit.
Lastly, you can choose loose tables and chairs. You have the gamut as to what type of look you can accomplish with this option. You can choose from a wrought iron bistro look to a more commercial avant-garde look or simply more traditional. Although, most food courts want to have a unique, more modern look to them. Colors and comfort should compliment the décor of the space in which they are placed and of course, you should always prepare a budget as to how much you want to spend on your food court.
Along with the budget comes a projection of how many seats you will need to accommodate the people you project will utilize the facility. Of course, in a mall environment, it is going to be much busier around holiday times and it’s a fact that you will discourage business if people don’t have a place to sit and enjoy their meal. As you can see, there are many facets that come in when considering your food court seating purchase. I always recommend that you have a professional company layout the seating requirements after you’ve made the described decisions.
